"Inspiration...Move Me Brightly

light the song with sense and color,
hold away despair
More than this I will not ask
faced with mysteries dark and vast
statements just seem vain at last
some rise, some fall, some climb
to get to Terrapin

Counting stars by candlelight
all are dim but one is bright:
the spiral light of Venus
rising first and shining best,
From the northwest corner
of a brand new crescent moon
crickets and cicadas sing
a rare and different tune

Terrapin Station
in the shadow of the moon
Terrapin Station
and I know we'll be there soon

Terapin - I can't figure out
Terripin - if it's an end or the beginning
Terrapin - but the train's got its brakes on
and the whistle is screaming: TERRAPIN
-Terrapin Station(Lady With A Fan) Robert Hunter/Jerry Garcia

Sitting in my office, listening to the Grateful Dead Live From The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey, March 31st, 1988. A show I had the great privilege of attending.

It was my first Scarlet->Fire, my first(and only ? I would have to check the records) Terrapin Station, a great Brown-Eyed Women, a Dear Mr. Fantasy into a deliriously off-key finale from "Hey Jude". A helluva good time !!

I also have a souvenir, as I rode to the show with an acquaintance named Sandy who after the show gave me this pack of cigarettes that I think every single person in the arena had stepped on, because she saw them and "remembered that I smoked"...They were crushed beyond recognition and therefore unsmokeable, but it was such a sweet gesture that I held on to them, and I still have them.

Okay. Horribly corny drug addled memory over.

Back to work, everyone...

"Na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na
Hey Jude !!"
