Mmmmm...TeeeVeee

I picked this meme up from Avitable, my Spiritual Advisor. It was apparently started by James Gunn, the writer/director of Slither, and then continued by Joss Whedon. Because I have watched a TV show or two in my lifetime, I thought I would give it a shot.

25 Favorite Television Characters

The rules:
* Does not have to be a show currently airing

* No puppets or cartoons
* No reality show people
* All characters must be regulars on the show
* No mini-series

This was harder than I thought, especially since the no puppets or cartoon rule shot a few of my all time favorite shows out of the water(Simpsons, Futurama, Sifl & Olly)but here are my choices, in no particular order.

1.Willow Rosenberg(Buffy The Vampire Slayer): A kickass witch,and hot to boot.

2.Jack Bauer(24): What can I say ? He's like frickin' Superman without the cape.

3.Dr. Johnny Fever(WKRP In Cincinnati): One of the funniest characters ever, I still laugh about the episode where his reflexes got BETTER the more he drank. Priceless.

4.Arvin Sloane(Alias): Just plain evil, but deliciously so.

5.Lorelei Gilmore(Gilmore Girls): I cannot say it better, so I will quote Avitable: "The sharpest tongue and best ass on television." Amen!

6.Bill McNeill(NewsRadio); Quite possibly the greatest sitcom character EVER.

7.Lt. Columbo(Columbo): "Just one more thing, sir..." Nuff said.

8.Tobias Funke(Arrested Development): David Cross is one of the funniest people on the planet, and the fact that he could play this character with a straight face will never cease to amaze me.

*9.Faith(Buffy The Vampire Slayer): Leather pants, maybe evil ? I don't care, I love her. DISQUALIFIED.(See Edit below)

10.Sabrina Duncan(Charlie's Angels): Always my favorite Angel.

11.Les Nessmann(WKRP): "More news, and Les Nessmann. One of the great clueless characters on TV. You must hear him pronounce Chihuahuas and Chi- Chi Rodriguez.

12. Veronica Mars(Veronica Mars): Brilliant, pretty, crafty- also happens to be the best show on television.

13.Matthew Brock(NewsRadio): Andy Dick at his best. I seem to like the clueless characters a lot, I wonder why that is ?

14.Reverend Jim Ignatowski(Taxi): Jim taking his driving test is one of the funniest moments on TV, ever, I think.

15. Stephen Keaton(Family Ties): Waaaay underrated character on a show that was funny until they had to wrap the episodes up, then it got sappy. " If this was a pop-tart, we'd be dead right now."

16. Fox Mulder(X-Files): Cool AND geeky.

17. Dana Scully(X-Files): Smart, hot and packing a gun.

18. Lyndsey Weir(Freaks & Geeks): She was such a rich character, I really, really, really wish they had kept this show on the air.

19.Chloe O'Brien(24): A pain in the ass, but always comes through when it's needed.

20. Richard Lewis(Curb Your Enthusiasm): Is he playing himself ? Maybe, maybe not...Either way, he is fucking hilarious, and a great foil for Larry David.

21. Logan Echolls(Veronica Mars); A bad boy, but he's always there for Veronica. I secretly hope they end up together.

22. Chuck Noblet(Strangers With Candy): Stephen Colbert at his deadpan best.

23. Hank Kingsley(The Larry Sanders Show): A clueless character(again), but funny as hell,and just a little bit sad.

24. Michael Bluth(Arrested Development): Again, the fact that he kept a straight face is just amazing to me.

25. Jim Rockford(Rockford Files): I love this show, and I just think That Jim Rockford kicks ass.

There they are. Feel free to give it a try. It's fun.

*Edit: I have been informed that including Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in violation of the rules, as she was not a regular on the show. Therefore, I must replace her, which makes me sad, but I must obey the rules if I am to play the game properly, so, the new number 9 is...
Special Agent Dale Cooper(Twin Peaks)- I can't believe I didn't include him the first time around.

How can you put Faith and Willow and not add Spike????

Come on now, or Buffy herself????

I did like faith though, and heck, why not the Mayor too?

Buffy, Spike and the Mayor were ALL very close to getting on. i had to draw lines somehwere- The debate is what's great about these lists anyway. I also realized I didn't include anyone from Twwin Peaks !! Agent Dale Cooper, Audrey Thorne, The Log Lady...The list could probably be 50 characters or longer !!
Thanks for stopping by, by the way.

Faith is not a series regular and therefore is in violation of the rules.

Otherwise, she'd be on mine too.

Same with the Mayor.

How come she doesn't qualify as a regular ?

A regular is someone who is in the opening credits.

I think Faith appeared in enough episodes, but m is the Holy Princess of Television, so his word is law.

Good list, though! Very impressed with some of your choices.

Dale Cooper is a good substitution for Faith.

Well then, there's no excuse for leaving Spike off. :)

I'm such a Buffy geek, my husband bought me the entire series for christmas last year. And it was my favorite present.
