Photo by Catherine GassWhat a rollercoaster. I just have to thank God and Jesus, and My Special Lady, who works two jobs(coal miner and gator wrangler) just so I can pursue my dream of being an extra. Thanks.
Enough about me, though. How about those Oscars, huh ? Nice to see Martin Scorsese get the Oscar he should have gotten in 1980 for "Raging Bull", which also should have won Best Picture(Ordinary People ? Robert Redford ? Are you fucking kidding me ? That movie was a bad afterschool special. The Academy should be ashamed- same goes for Forrest Gump.) It was also nice to see him win for a movie that was deserving, unlike Al Pacino and Paul Newman, who were both given Oscars for performances that were not stellar, but who had deserved them earlier, and never gotten them.
With Forrest Whitaker winning, that's three "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" alums with Oscars. Can you name them ? (Too easy ?)
I don't have a lot else to add, but Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet and Rachel Wiesz are gorgeous.

I'm still hungover from all the montages. Commercials included. Still, good time at Chez Andy and Rob, and I even tied for 1st Place in the pool!
Great pictures!

Bridget

What's with the gloves?
C2- Congrats on the tie in the pool! Didja win anything ?
Avitable,
Thanks.
I may be one person short on that trivia question, but I must show my ignorance-Who is Bridget ? That's not the third person I was thinking of.
As for the gloves, I was required to wear them before I could hold the Oscar.
your white gloves are dandy.
we have the same taste in women. is that creepy?
Lauren,
No. i think it just means we both have impeccable taste in women !!
I won a DVD of Friends with Money. I had my choice between that, Cannonball Run, Prairie Home Companion (which Lauren chose for her winnings), and something else I can't remember. I hadn't seen Friends with Money yet, and I loooove Walking and Talking (the director's first feature), so I thought that would be a good selection for me.
How could you not choose "Cannonball Run" ? I am crestfallen.
Oh, I see. I'm supposed to pick my prize for you? Hmpf. Double hmpf!
Oops. I meant Jennifer Jason Leigh, not Bridget Fonda. I get those two confused. Which one was in Fast Times?
Oh, so that's a real Oscar? How did you get to hold one of those?
C2- Well, of course you were. You know that it's all about me ALWAYS.
:)
Avitable- Jennifer Jason Leigh was in Fast Times, but, as I just learned, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Jason_Leigh
she has never even been NOMINATED for an Oscar. I was surprised by that. I kind of thought she had won one, but she was never even nominated. She was not the third person I was talking about, though. I was referring to Nicolas Cage. He played one of Brad's(Judge Reinhold) friends. He was billed as Nicolas Coppola, though.
It is a real Oscar. I worked at a Library that had an Oscar( I believe it's Ben Hecht's) in it's collection, and when I won(tied) in the Oscar pool, I got my picture taken with the Oscar. It was kinda cool.
