Are You Hugging The Tee Vee ?

It's Fall !!!! There's new tee vee shows !!!Old tee vee shows have new episodes !!!! Sounds like blog post to me !!!!

First things first...I do not watch the Office. I do not watch Grey's Anatomy. There. I said it. Let's move on.

Shall we start with the new shows ? Why not ?

(Disclaimer: I am taking my best shot at the times these shows are on...Due to the TivO, I watch very little when it is actually airing, so I'm not always sure exactly when a show airs. Check your local listings)

Chuck(Mondays, 8 p.m. NBC): Chuck is a computer tech at a Best Buy type place who inadvertently downloads all sorts of government secrets into his brain. Comedy spy show that is, to quote Chuck's brother in law(known as "Captain Awesome"- AWESOME ! It's hilarious, and has just enough spy stuff to stay interesting. And, it's already had a "Lost" reference hidden in the Government info. A definite keeper. Which probably means it will be gone in 4 weeks.

Journeyman(Mondays, 10 p.m. NBC): Quantum Leap, version 2007. Okay, that's a bit of an oversimplification, but at it's core, that's what it is. Dan travels into the past to help someone out. But, it is also different in intriguing ways. He disappears from his everyday life to go on his journeys. Also, the love of his life, who died in a plane crash some years earlier, is also a journeyer(is that a word ? probably not, but what the hellfuck, I'm talking about people who travel through time, aren't I), but we don't know exactly what she's up to. What we DO know is that she is GORGEOUS and that Dan is still deeply in love with her. Methinks that might cause some friction with Dan's current wife. I think this one has potential.

Reaper(Tuesdays 9 p.m.- CW): another supernatural comedy. In this one, a kids' parents sold his soul to the devil, and now he has to be a bounty hunter for Satan and return escaped souls to Hell. the cast is great, the writing is funny, the special effects are just good enough to not be entirely distracting. And Ray Wise(who played Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks), is "freakin' awesome" as the Devil. Great show-so far.

Pushing Daisies(Wednesdays-8 p.m. ABC)- there has only been one episode of this show so far, but I really liked it. it's a bout a guy who can reanimate the dead by touching them. when he touches them a second time, they die again, this time for good.If they are alive for more than a minute, someone else nearby has to die in their place. In the first episode, the guy reanimates the girl that he has always been in love with, but alas, now he can never touch her again. The "plot" point is that he works with a private investigator to find out who murdered people by asking the victims, and then they collect rewards. It kinda sounds like it shouldn't work, but it really does. I look forward to the second episode.

Gossip Girl(Wednesdays 9 p.m. CW)- Absolute trash, but it's kinda fun. the pain and suffering of the children of the fabulously rich. Narrated by Kristen bell as Gossip girl, a blogger who sees and tells all. a large part of why I watch it is because I get to imagine it's Veronica Mars narrating, even though the show couldn't carry Veronica's taser.

Bionic Woman(Wednesdays 9 p.m. NBC): remake of 70's tee vee show that I remember watching. My favorite episode was the one with the Bionic Dog that stops(with his teeth) a VW bug from rolling down a hill with a child in it. Freakin' AWESOME. This show is pretty good, too. but no Bionic Dog...Not yet anyway...But we do have an insane and possibly evil other Bionic Woman, and any show that has Miguel Ferrer in it is okay in my book.

Life(Wednesdays 10:00 p.m., NBC): i like this s how a lot. it's about a guy who was a cop, but got sent to jail for a murder he did not commit. He got out after 12 years(I think) and part of his settlement(aside from a LARGE,but as yet unspecified amount of cash) for his wrongful imprisonment is he returns to the police. He is partnered with a recovering drug addict and he is secretly trying ti unravel his framing. It's good. So far it has had a decent blend of the weekly procedural whodunit cop show with the longer arc of his quest. has some clunky moments, but overall I quite enjoy it.

Moonlight(Friday 9:00 p.m. CBS) I couldn't even get through ten minutes of the first episode. it's a bad bad bad ripoff of Angel, all about a vampire who works as a private investigator, with none of the wit or style of Angel. Suck City. Pun fucking INTENDED !!!

Big Bang Theory(Monday 8:30 p.m.CBS) Nerdy guys /pretty girl sitcom. Got funnier from the first episode to the second, but I'm not totally sold yet. Though the discussion of the flaws in the original Superman movie was priceless. Is my geek showing ?

Viva Laughlin(CBS- Sundays, i think) has not aired yet. but I am fucking jazzed for a musical drama set in Laughlin Nevada !!!

I think that's it for the new shows. I'll do the returning shows tomorrow, maybe.

New shows in the Fall season that I've seen - Corner Gas. I guess that's not shows plural, just one. Of the ones that were around last season: The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad. SportsCenter doesn't count, does it?

I think you and I might be the only straight men out there looking forward to Viva Laughlin.

I still can't believe you don't watch The Office. How about 30 Rock?

I watched the first Pushing Daisies, and it didn't draw me in enough to watch the second episode. It's just too much. I think they set the bar too high with Wonderfalls.

And Aliens in America, man, I'm telling you! You can watch 'em online at www.cwtv.com

Avitable- You may be right.

c2- I respectfully disagree on Pushing Daisies. I'll look into Aliens in America.
