Sith-Riffic ? Well...

not exactly. I saw Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith yesterday afternoon, and I thoroughly enjoyed it...and not in the same way that I convinced myself that I enjoyed Episode I: The Phantom Menace...Man, did I do a number on my own brain on that one...I had actually convinced myself that it wasn't that bad...But I watched it again on Sunday, and man was it baaad...I found myself fast forwarding through about 2/3 of it...Not the mark of a good movie...I watched Episode II: Attack of The Clones on Sunday as well, and that one I actually did like quite a bit...It's certainly far from perfect, but i could watch it and enjoy it...And I liked Revenge Of The Sith better than that...I would probably place it third in my personal catalogue of the 6 movies: 1.Empire Strikes Back 2. Star Wars 3. Revenge Of The Sith 4. Hardware Wars 5.Return Of The Jedi 6. Attack Of The Clones and 7. The Phantom Menace. For those who have not seen Hardware Wars, you definitely should.
Anyway, to be fair to Revenge Of The Sith, I don't know that any movie that I have been waiting 25 years to see could ever live up to my brain's expectations, but it did a pretty good job...There are some great fight scenes in it, some clunky dialogue, the ever present "I've got a bad feeling about this.", which is the Alfred Hitchcock cameo of the Star Wars movies...Of course there are several questions that crop up after it ends " well, if THAT'S true, then what about..." i won't go into detail in case folks have not yet seen it, but you know the stuff I'm talking about if you have seen it...But in the end, i think expecting these movies to stand up to the originals is unfair, those three movies(Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope especially) at that time were like nothing I had ever seen before, and actually, like nothing I have seen since, and I will always treasure the memories of the first time I saw them, and how for YEARS afterwards, I expected to see that imperial cruiser fly overhead shortly after hearing the 20th Century Fox music, usually to be disappointed...But it was a helluva ride, and it's a little sad to not have the anticipation anymore...

do remember a tv movie called "thumb wars"?

I really am getting forgetful - I meant to put a "you" between the words "do" and "remember"

I do remember Thumb Wars(In fact, that guy has made a regular thumb franchise, I know there's a "Thumbtanic", and I'm pretty sure there are others. Hardware Wars is much better, and it was on a video with "Closet Cases Of The Nerd Kind"(Which stars Hennon Chambers as the famous French scientist), "Bambi Meets Godzilla" and "Porklips Now"...It's a lot of fun, but I think the "hardware Wars" DVD just has Hardware Wars on it now.

That's not a very nice thing to say...conversations about film parodies are very exciting to some people...

have you seen the "star wars christmas special" from the 80s? it was HILARIOUS. i rented a bootleg copy of it in nyc once.

I actually have a copy of it that I borrowed from someone and then he moved without me getting it back...I found it very hard to get through the whole thing in one sitting...though the first fifteen minutes being all in "wookiee" with no subtitles was a stroke of genius !

just bored in general. so bored that i'm actually enjoying this, thank you very much.

on a completely unrelated note...did anyone see alias? holy crap!

Oh, sorry for my misinterpretation...I did not see Alias...I never started watching it, so I would be hopelessly lost.
Is that a good holy crap, or a bad one ?

hey - we finally went to see this over the weekend and i hate to admit it but i actually thought it was pretty good... or maybe i just think that because it was SO HILARIOUS and SATISFYING to see natalie portman get strangled a bit with the dark side of the force.

did anyone else think this movie was full of laughs? how about continuity errors in regard to the "real" star wars movies?
