Lyrically Speaking...

I think maybe it was Earl who did this at some point, but it seems like over the last coupla days, I have heard a bunch of songs that have lines in them that really stick with me(which is not really surprising, because I think I have always been a lyrics guy when it comes to music), and I thought that I would just share some with you:

"She stares off alone into the night
with the eyes of one who hates for just being born"- Bruce Springsteen, "Racing in the Street"

"Karen of the Carpenters, singin' in the rain
another lovely victim, of the mirror's evil ways"- My Morning Jacket, "Librarian"

"Tumble down shack in BigFoot county
Snowed so hard that the roof caved in
Delilah Jones went to meet her God
And the old man never was the same again"-Grateful Dead, "Brown-Eyed Woman"

"The clocks will all run backwards
all the sheep will have two heads
 And Thursday night and Friday
will be on Tuesday night instead"- World Party, "Way Down Now"

"The world will turn around without me
the sun'll come up in the East
Shining down on all of them that hate me
I hope my goin' gives 'em peace"-  Steve Earle,"Over Yonder(Jonathons Song)"

"You think it's funny?
Turning rebellion into money"- The Clash, "White Man in Hammersmith Palais"

"You know I like to die for awhile, everyday in the afternoon
I like to let the arms of a bar wrap around me tight
Just gonna sprawl in the front booth, big drink above my head
Cross-eyed and smiling as I watch the world go twistin' by"- Everclear,"Twistinside"

 "If everyone's a little queer,
Oh, can't she be a little straight?"- Weezer, "Pink Triangle"

"Did you ever wake up to find
A day that broke up your mind
Destroying your notion of circular time"- Rolling Stones,"Sway"

"Lookout mama, there's a white boat coming up the river,
With a big red beacon, and a flag and a man on the rail"- Neil Young, "Powderfinger"

"Don't the sun look angry through the trees
Don't the trees look like crucified thieves
Don't you feel like Desperados under the eaves
Heaven help the one who leaves"- Warren Zevon, "Desperadoes Under The Eaves"

"Like when you wake up behind the bar
Trying to remember where you are
Having crushed all the pretty things
There but for the grace of God go I"- Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins,"Rise Up With Fists!"

"Show me show me show me how you do that trick,
the one that makes me scream," she said.- The Cure, "Just Like Heaven"
